Spirituality: Embracing our weaknesses - a voice from Africa

Cape Of Good Hope:

The outing to the Cape of Good Hope is an experience that will never fade from my memory. While I was resting upon the smooth oval shaped rocks, naturally heaped along the beach, and spreading as far as my eyes could see, I noticed certain weeds floating above the ocean like large farms of sweet potato vines. Their leaves, however, were broad and dirty rust brown. They gave the ocean a scary and ugly look.

What impressed me about these weeds was their ability to float and remain still despite the strong sea tides. I also noticed that they were a home for many creatures, and beneath them skilled people went searching for cowrie shells.

Out of this simple experience, I learned how to appreciate my weakness and stand my ground without being a victim of peer manipulation. I also learned that, hidden in our weaknesses and ugliness are many treasures that only openness and welcoming attitudes can unveil.
